Gabriel Marquez: In this short story the setting takes place in a backyard. This makes it humane because a backyard is so common and then everything else that happens makes you think to yourself " wow this would be so cool if this happened"

In the book like water for Chocolate the novel is nothing but normal. They live in a small town. They live a normal life which is why it is very humane because almost everything is very down to earth

Hybridity/ Magical: This element focuses on the things that are not so normal throughout the story. When these things happen in the character do not seem freaked out. They treat it as it was normal.

Pan's Labyrinth this movie uses this element because the main character Ofilia has to complete tasks to prove that she is a princess.

Edward Scissor hands the setting takes place in a normal town and he has scissor hands which is where the hybridity comes in because it is unreal and it is not normal for someone to have scissor hands.
