But why is so important right now?
Because it is too easy for anyone to write something on the internet, often they do not possess relevant knowledge and merely personal opinions. unproven, sources are unreliable.
because bad information makes bad decisions: 'garbage in garbage out'
Quality information refers to as information that is appropriate for the intented use.
while we may want to find the perfect information, but it is time consuming and costly to do so. So, we are looking for 'good enough' quality information that enables us to complete our tasks. Or the concept of

apply critical thinking to ask important questions like who is the author, is the information supported by evidence, any biases?

after you published the information, then improve on it with the feedback you received from others to make it more comprehensive.
Why is it important to evaluate information?
because good decisions are based on good quality information
if we have good information, we can reduce uncertainty in business. for example, if we know what our competitors are doing, we can develop strategies to compete with them. If we know the technology trends, we can better predict the trajectory of the industry and plan ahead of time.
What is the process for information evaluation??
There are 4 dimensions (wang and strong 1996)

How do we evaluate infromation?
is the information useful to the task at hand
relevant to the task?
approrpriate for the task?

is it complete or lack certain info

is it supported by evidence, research?
how comprehensive is the research/study?
is the finding accurate?

it is a process to determine the worth of a piece of information.
it has somethingn to do with information evaluation and information overload!
to avoild information overload, we need to possess good information evaluation skills.
