Unit two: Ancient Civilizations
Art: In ancient egypt there were many different arts. Including jewelry, this was very popular for kings and royal families to wear and build with. Another example of arts are sculptures, these were built to honor or remember kings and gods. I hope the information I have provided you with helps you understand the arts in ancient egypt. (Hart 25 ) 
Architecture: There were many different versions of architecture in egypt because they were very smart. A example of architecture is the pyramids, these were used to put dead kings in and their riches. Another example of architecture was the temples, these were also used to honor kings. I hope this helps you understand egyptian architecture. (Hart 21 )

Writing: On page 34 it says scribs had to be experts in writing. THe book says at the beginning of the paragraph it says, " Scribes had to be experts in writing hieroglyphs." this shows how they were in charge of writing and what they would write. (Hart pg 34)
Religion: They worships hundreds of different gods and or goddesses. An example of one of their gods was Bastet she was the cat goddess she protected the crops in the text it says " She represented the power of the sun to ripen crops." This shows the power she had. (Hart 24)
Government: On page 13 it says that Only kings and queens and gods can carry this symbol called the sigh of life it shows the king or god holding power for them to give life or take it. (Hart 12)
Location: on Page 8 it said the land of the ancient Egyptians was called the "Black Land" due to the rich dark silt. The people of the ancient Egypt lived along the Nile River where floods made the land fertile. ( Hart 8)
Location: An example is that the location of ancient Mesopotamia is within the borders of modern day Iraq. The ancient civilizations also goes into what is today. Turkey, Syria, nad southern Iran. (Steele P6)

Art: They had lots of different things and examples of arts. An example of arts is music, known as the harp. Another example of arts were sports, boxing was one of the most famous sports. With these examples I hope you understand a little more about the arts in mesopotamia. (Steele pg 26) 
Government: The government was made out of kings. For example, the king of babylon chose the rules and system. (Aka Hammurolai)

Writing: On page 11 it says. that the oracle bones were used to talk with ancestral spirits. The Oracle bone answered there questions. After the questions were answered they were put on the bone. The bones were usually ox bones and turtle shells. (Cotterell 11)
