Direct Democracy
-
In a direct democracy, people will constantly have to be involved in discussions and political matters. As such, over time people will neglect this constant duty which will create a government ruled by the few who do still actively participate in the regulations of the land. This may create inaccuracies on what the majority really wants since only few vote. (Z.R.) https://www.britannica.com/topic/direct-democracy/Issues-and-controversies
The chances of people constantly agreeing are slim to none. There will always be some people who argue against the majority and thus will cause issues as those people can keep constantly calling that issue into question as much as they please. Furthermore, if disputes like such kept happening over and over again, riots would most likely breakout, and possibly battle. History has shown that disagreements can have large impacts. VOTING ADVANTAGES (HB)
every vote carries the same weight in a direct democracy. A direct democracy operates on majority vote, but it is up to individuals to participate in that process. This advantage means that more people in each community are knowledgeable about current events because of the requirement to be politically active.
direct democracy alters the purpose of a vote. Instead of treating the right to vote as a privilege, a "direct democracy allows everyone to have a say at all times". That means voting is more of a responsibility . This advantage is why there can be higher participation rates in some regions when decisions must be made.(https://futureofworking.com/6-advantages-and-disadvantages-of-direct-democracy/)

Switzerland
Switzerland is one of the only cases of direct democracy. Because of this, many leaders look up to how the country is run and try to enforce that way of leading into their own country. With the direct democracy in the country, it allows for adults the age of 18 and up to vote on how the country will be run. (M.H)
With their direct democracy, they have Parliament pass new laws and amendments to which the Swiss public has the ability to vote for or against. In order for one of these laws to go through, eight cantons must be requested OR they must have 50,000 signatures within 100 days.(M.H.)
The Political party is dominated by four parties (similarly to how America is dominated by the Republican and Democratic parties) which are:
- The Swiss People Party
- The Social Democrats
- The Liberals
- Christian Democratic Party (M.H)
