Ancient Civilizations
Location- The Indus Valley (Harappan) Civilization was located in the Northwestern Region of South Asia along the River Indus.
Language and Script- Indus Valley Civilization had a script and language called Indus script and Harappa Language. Their translations remain unknown
Language and Script- Cuneiform was the first ever form of writing and developed by the Mesopotamian Civilization. Their primary spoken languages were Sumerian and Babylonian.
Architecture- In Indus Valley Civilization, people mostly built of fired and mortared brick; some incorporated sun-dried mud-brick and wooden superstructures. Most builds were having walls around them and same with cities.
Architecture- The ancient Egyptians built their pyramids, tombs, temples and palaces out of stone, the most durable of all building materials.
Social Structure- Landlord, peasant, craftsmen, and merchant were the four main classes of Ancient Chinese Civilization. Landlord and Peasants were the two prominent classes and Craftsmen and merchants were minor.
Social Structure- Ancient Egypt had a social structure that divided people in 3 classes- Upper class (Rich), Middle class (Merchants, workers, etc. and families) and Lower class (Broke and poor people).
Religion: Mesopotamians were polytheistic; they worshiped several major gods and thousands of minor gods. Each city had its own patron god and goddess.
Religion: Ancient Egypt did not have a certain religion and each city-state had its own godly beliefs but one common agreement was the God Zeus was head of the gods.
Inventions: The sailboat, the chariot, the wheel, & the plow are all examples of revolutionary Ancient Mesopotamian inventions.
Inventions: Papermaking, printing, gunpowder and the compass are all examples of life changing Chinese inventions.
Kings: Qin Shi Huang is the most popular Ancient Chinese Emperor as he started the Qin dynasty which is named after him. Wu Zetian, Emperor Taizu of Song, Emperor Huai of Jin and Ji Gongsheng are some other influential Anceint Chinese Emperors and Kings.
Kings: Sargon of Akkad, Ashurbanipal and Rimush are popularly known Ancient Mesopotamian Kings.
Interesting Facts: The Last Emperor of China, Puyi, became ruler when he was only 3 years old!
Interesting Facts: The first artifact uncovered in Harappa was a unique stone seal carved with a unicorn and an inscription. Their main staples were wheat and barley, which were presumably made into bread and perhaps also cooked with water as a gruel or porridge.
