Unit Two: Ancient Civilizations
Mesopotamia
Government: In the text it says the Assyrians were ruthless warriors, but their empire (1120-612 BCE) brought stability to many lands. They were ready to learn from other cultures and to adopt traditions and customs different from their own.
Religion: The Sumerians worshiped many gods and goddesses. They believed that the stars traveling across the night sky were the cows of sin or Nanna, the horned Moon God. The crescent moon was said to be the boat of the Moon God, sin. The full moon was his crown. The Moon God looked after the city of Ur, where he was worshiped under the name of Nanna.

Location: In the text it said most of the area that was ancient Mesopotamia was located in modern day Iraq. Two great rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates,

Architecture: A last standing symbol of ancient Mesopotamia is the ziggurat, a massive terraced platform made of brick. It represented a mountain, stretching from earth to the heavens. A pious worshiper in a religions procession carries a stem of flowers in bud as an offering to the gods of the city's ziggurat.
Ancient Egypt

Location: In the text it said that the ancient Egyptians lived near the nile river or in various canals coming off of it. This area was also called the "black land" because after the flooding there would be rich dark silt.

Writing:In the text it said kings during the Shang dynasty used oracle bones to talk to ancestors. The people would use tortoises shells and ox bones in order to inscribe questions. The questions would be in scripter in the bones.

They care deeply about hygiene. They have one of the the best sanitations in all other ancient civilization they were very good architects because they had very advanced buildings for their time.
