Ancient Egypt
writing: Scribes hat to be experts at writing hieroglyphs an elaborate form of picture with about 700 different signs. it was deliberately kept complicated so that not to many people could master it. so that Scribes could keep there special position. Hieroglyphs were also used to state monuments ,temples, tombs ect. they could be written from left to right or top to bottom. (Hart 34)
location: in the text it said that the Ancient Egyptians live near the Nile river or in various canals coming off off of it. This area was also called the "Black land" because after flooding there would be rich dark silt. (Hart 8)
art: On page 52 it said that the Egyptians made dolls out of wood,with hair of clay beads attached to lengths of twine. these colorful balls are made of clay and were originally filled with seeds or small beads of clay.(Hart 52)
religion: The Egyptians worshiped hundreds of different gods and goddesses. Many of the gods are represented by animals: a baboon might stand for thoth, god of wisdom, at one temple, And a moon god named Khonsu At another. (Hart 24)
government: At great state occasions like royal jubilee celebrations or the giving of gifts to favored countries, the king and court gathered together, and top officials ect. some of these countries were relatives of the king, some won high office through their ability as scribes. (Hart 12)
architecture:the pyramids the first ever pyramids was built as the burial place of the king Djoser on 2650 BCE.it rose in six different stages and is called the step pyramid. it was supposed to represent a big stairway for the kings to climb to join the sun god. the largest pyramid of all time is the Great Pyramid at Giza, built for king khufu in 2589 BCE. (Hart 20)

Writing: On page 11 the author wrote The oracle bone was used to consult the spirits of ancestors. Usually it was constructed from an ox bone or a tortoiseshell. Cracks formed would help the find answers to questions. (Cotterell 11)

Ancient India
Writing: The author wrote that One of the most confusing aspects of this ancient civilization is that the writing cannot be deciphered. Over 400 symbols have been uncovered from different locations. Some scholars have wondered whether these symbols actually constituted a proper writing system.(prentice hall world studies)
Government: The author wrote that the Aryan civilization had a large impact on modern-day India society. For example, one Aryan influence on modern-day India was the development of the caste system. The caste system began because the Aryans had four social classes, which they called varnas. People were divided based on wealth and occupation.(prentice hall world studies)
Location: The author wrote that the civilization developed along the Indus River alluvial plain in South Asia. Over time a vast number of settlements were built on the banks of the Indus River and surrounding areas.
The Indus River Valley covers most of modern-day Pakistan, the northwestern region of modern-day India, and a small portion of Afghanistan. (prentice hall world studies)
Religion: Much of what we know about them today also came from sacred writing called the Vedas. The Vedas are mostly religious texts, but they also described famous victories of the Aryans as they invaded India. The religion of the ancient Aryans, known as Brahmanism, was polytheistic and heavily influenced the later development of Hinduism. Both religions have much in common and share many rituals. Architecture/technology: The author wrote that the people within the Indus Valley created well-planned cities. Specifically, the people during this time cared deeply about hygiene and their cities resembled the importance of this idea. Also, within many homes, some rooms had facilities in which waste water was directed to cover drains and these lined the major streets. (prentice hall world studies)
