Writing: On page 11 it says that the oracle bones were used to talk with ancestral spirits. The oracle bones would answer their important questions. After questions were answered they were inscribed on the bone, which were typically ox bones or tortoise shells. (Cotterell 11)

Ancient India
Location: In the text it said that in the 1920s, archeologists discovered the remains of the ancient cities in the region. The region around the Indus River has rich fertile soil, which was ideal and good for farming. The Indus River is located in South Asia, specifically located within modern-day Pakistan. (Prentice Hall: World Studies)
Writing In the text it said that their writing is not able to be deciphered. It also said several of the symbols are found on seals, ceramic pots, and other types of materials. Their writing is also not considered an official constituted writing system. (Prentice Hall: World Studies)
Architecture/Technology The graphic showed that the cities in the Indus Valley resemble the importance of hygiene. In many homes within the Indus Valley, they had facilities that led waste water from their house, straight to the major streets. Lastly, with the new advanced technology that they have, they now own dockyards, granaries, warehouses, brick platforms, and protective walls. (Prentice Hall: World Studies)
Government According to the text the system held in the Indus Valley is called a caste system, which consists of Brahmana, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Sudra, and Dalits. This caste system also stands for when people are born, they are not supposed to change. Lastly, the classes are also divided among wealth and occupation. (Prentice Hall: World Studies)
Religion In the text it said people in the Indus Valley have the Vedas as their sacred text. Ancient people in the Indus Valley started a tradition of believing in Brahmanism. Which means they were polytheistic. Now people from the Indus river believe in Hinduism. (Prentice Hall: World Studies
