On page 12-13 the text said they wrote things down to record them and show ownership, in 3300 bce they where writing up to 700 pictographs. they used a stick made of cut reed,its tip was made a wedge shape when it was pressed into clay.

On pages 14-15 it said that the sumerians worshiped many gods that is called being polytheistic. they thought that passing stars where cows of sins or nanna the horned moon god.the sumerians believed the water floated on a ocean of fresh water.in the bible it helped goldsmiths,masons and woodworkers.

on page 24-25 it said they worship many gods this means they are polytheistic and it also mentioned that had a god that had a goat head that made the nile flood yearly

on page 34 it says that the hieroglyphics have more than 700 different symbols and not many people except for scribes knew how to read it. there is also a picture of a label on the left and that is something scribes liked to right on their scrolls. Hart 24

In the text, it states that this has still not been deciphered. Archeologists have found over 400 different symbols but don't know what they all mean. This is a big reason why their whole civilization is missing some things like some things about their government (Prentice Hall: World Studios).
