Ancient Egypt
Location: in the text is said that the ancient Egyptians lived near the Nile river or in various canals coming off of it. this area is also called the "black land" because after flooding there would be rich dark slit. (Hart 8)
Religion: the Egyptians worshiped hundreds of gods and goddess many of the gods are represented by animals: a baboon might stand for thoth, god of wisdom, at one temple, and a moon named Khonsu At another (Hart 24

Government: At great state occasions like royal jubilee celebrations or the giving of gifts to favored countries, the king and court gathered together, and top officials ect, some won high office though their ability as scribes. (Hart 12)

Writing: Scribes had to be experts in writing hieroglyphes an elaborate form of picture-writing with about 700 different signs it was deliberate hard so that the scribes could keep there social status. hieroglyphs were also used state monuments , temples, tombs ect. they could be written form left to right, ro top to bottom

Writing: in the text it said kings during the Shang dynasty used oracle bones to talk to ancestors. The people would use tortoise shells and ox bones in order to inscribe questions. The questions would be in scripted in the bones. (Cotterell 11)
