Unit 2: Ancient civilizations .
Mesopotamia
Architecture(buildings): In the text it states that that they were called ziggurats, and they were made of mud and straw. They were used to give gifts to the gods.(Steele 24-25)
Art: It said in the text that the art of hunting became more of a ritual thing to the city's. There is also a thing called The Narama-sin of Akkad witch was a 3D sculpture that said that this one emperor was the god. (Steele 44)
Writing: In the text it says they used wet clay and symbols to wright. They would use things called reed stylus to make the symbols.(Steele 14-15)
Religion: In the text it said that the crescent moon was said to be the boat of the moon or god. They believed the stars that traveled across the night sky where the cow of sins.(Steele 14-15)
Government: in the text it says they had few resources and they were poor so they set an adventure to conquer the lands. Tiglath Pileser made Assyria Powerful again (Steele 40)
Ancient Egypt
Architecture(buildings): In the text it said that they were made from bricks, the bricks were made from mud at the nile river. They would then pour the mixture into wood frames. (Hart 26-27)
Art: Art that they did was singing and dancing. They had a great amount of festivals.

Location: In the text it states they lived on canals or on the nile river. This land was fertile and called the black land because of it. (Hart 8)
Religion: Religion in the text it said "the Egyptians worshipped hundreds of different gods and goddesses, and sometimes it is difficult to work out who was who. Many of the gods are represented by animals. Hart (22)
Writing: In the text it states that they used a language called hieroglyphics. They have over 700 symbols to use.

Government: In the text it states they were called pharaohs. they were then sorted into dynasties, and we use them today.

Location: In the text it says that most of the area that was ancient Mesopotamia was located in modern day Iraq. Two great rivers the and Euphrates, Join near Al-Qurna in Iraq. (Steele 6)

Writing: In the text it said kings during the Shang dynasty used oracle bones to talk to ancestors. The people would use tortoise sells and ox bones in order to inscribe questions. The questions would be scripted in the bones. (Cotterell 11)

Writing: The text states that there was over 400 symbols from different locations. Some scholars wonder if they were the actual form of writing. They are located on seals and other materials.(Prentice hall:World Studies)
Technology: In the text it says that they had walls to protect them from floods and outside attackers. It also stated that they had impressive dockyards, granaries, warehouses, and more. There where straight streets and large buildings called Harappa. (Prentice hall:World Studies)
location: The author wrote that the Indus River valley civilization covers modern-day country Pakistan. It is also in modern day Northwest India and some of Afghanistan. Under layers of dirt people found remains from over 4,000 year old cities. Around 5,000 years ago, along an alluvial plain, the people developed and it was close to a major water source.(Prentice hall:World Studies)
Religion: The author states that the main religion was Brahmanism. It it is now what we know as Hinduism. This religion was polytheistic and it is where they believe in many gods. (Prentice hall:World Studies)
Government: The main part of their government was the Caste system. The priest where the highest and they were called the Brahmana. The peasants were the lowest and called the dalits or untouchables(Prentice hall:World Studies)
