UNIT TWO ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS
MESOPOTAMIA
Writing: An example is that cuneiforms were made out of clay and then indented with sticks to make symbols which represents words. Then it dried and then they used this as records to track there progression
Location:An example is that the location of ancient Mesopotamia is within the borders of modern-day Iraq. The ancient civilizations also goes into what is today turkey, Syria, and southwestern Iran. (Steele 6)
Architecture: ziggurats are a temple made of mud and brick combined together to make a structure. They make it as big as they can so they can be as close to the heavens and give gifts to gods. (Steele 12)
Art:on page it said that they just made simple little pots just for fun and to put around their home. For example is that the hand paint there own pots after they use them.
Government On page 30 it said that Babylon became the most civilized of cites. the hammurabi's makes the laws.the black pillar is on of the most important to the ancient world.
Religion:In the story it told me that they believe more than one God. They also believe in ghosts,demons,spirit.
ANCIENT EGYPT
Writing: For example the limestone flake shows details of a deal struck when an Egyptian called amenwau sold some of his possessions . The value of the goods is given in terms of their equivalent in the weight. (Hart 40)
Location: On page 8 it said the land of the ancient Egyptians was called the "Black Land" due to the rich dark silt. The people of ancient Egypt lived along the Nile river where floods made the lad fertile.( hart 8)
Architecture:An example is the second cataract (rapids) of the Nile at Abu Simbel in Nubia, Ramesse II ordered two temples ro be carved out of the Sandstone cliffs. The goddess Hathor temple as it survives today today was built during the time when egypt was ruled by the greeks and romans in fact, Queen Cleopatra is shown on its rear wall. Government: On this page it says select few priests were involved in the ceremonies that took place in the temple's sanctuary. Accompanied by burning incense and lamps, adn scattering purified water from the temple's lake.

Art: In theses pages 56-57. For example in egypt you can find art egery. There are egyptian jewelry mines between the NIle and the Red sea. They mine gold at these mines for their jewelry. (Hart)
Religion: An example is egyptians worshiped hundreds of different gods and goddesses, and sometimes it is difficult to work out who was who. Many of the gods are represented by animals : a baboon might stand fo thoth, god of wisdom, at one temple. (Hart 24)
Ancient India
WRITING: In the text it said many symbols that you can find are located on ceals, ceramic pots, and many other types of materials. Also because of there confusing symbols and text it is difficult gain insight into the details of their society. Finally over 400 symbols have been discovered from there civilization.(Prentice Hall: Would Studies)
ARCHITECTURE?TECHNOLOGY: The author wrote that the indus people sololumly cared about their hygiene and there cities showed this. The architecture is very advanced and has techniques which is also shown impressive dockyards. There cities were also very ahead of their times with with nice streets there are straight and wide. (Prentice Hall: Would Studies)
LOCATION: In the text it said that in 1920's archaeologists discovered the remain of ancient cities in the region. The region around the river around the indus river had rich fertile soil which was good for farming. The indus river is located in South Asia specifically within modern day pakistan. (Prentice Hall: Would Studies)
GOVERNMENT: The author wrote aryans had a massive impact in the modern day India. Also one of their biggest advances in government was the creation of the caste system. The caste is a social group that takes away human rights that go up and down social classes. (Prentice Hall: Would Studies)
RELIGION:In the text it said the religion of the aryans is known as brahmanism It is a polytheistic religion that was heavily influence the creation of buddhism. Most of their information that we know about today comes from there sacred texts known as the vedas..(Prentice Hall: Would Studies)
