Goal: Writing a Short Non-Fiction Book on the Effects of Architecture on Psychology
How can I get published?
Research and analyze the process of publishing in order to fully understand each step you must take.
Also, do some research on how to get published specifically as a
teen
author.
Are there any publishers for teens that have a simpler process and that make it easier for writers not as advanced as published adult authors to get published?
Are there any ways I can improve my writing skills in order to be able to write a high-quality book?
What software would I need to use to write my book, will I have to take lessons or be taught how to use it?
Look at online writing courses (Coursera, Masterclass, Stanford, etc.) & chat with teachers, peers for any possible extra tutoring opportunities?
Ask any family/friends/teachers who have published books and perhaps get a few tips or have some sessions to learn more about how to use certain softwares...
Word, Google Docs., Pages? Are they good enough or would the software need to be more advanced?
Research and analyze the pros and cons of some common & easy to use with practice writing softwares
Are there any books already written on the topic that I can get inspiration from?
Find a few and perhaps read (take a look at) some to gain more insight on the topic and brainstorm ways to make your book stand out and different things you can do to make your book even more interesting
Go to book fairs; gives you an opportunity to meet some authors and maybe even experts?
What is the situation with book fairs, given the circumstances of COVID-19?
Could it be an online seminar type thing?
Would people be interested in reading about this topic, is it as commonly read as other topics?
Look at how many people have read about the topic, and the number of publications on the topic and compare it to other commonly read topics
Try to find (understand) the reason why the difference in publication is and think about what you can do to make your book be read more than the others and to make the topic more common, as well as increase publication numbers
Could the topic not being well known possibly be an advantage?
Since people might be more interested to learn about it.
What will my backup option be if I can’t successfully get my book published?
Brainstorm and look at different options of things to with an unpublished book
Give free samples to architects & psychologists
Publish it yourself on the internet
Is ISSU a good site to do so?
Sell it as an unpublished book & donate the money to certain mental health help or awareness programs/projects or architectural programs/projects
How can I make the content of my book, and my book itself in general, more engaging, and interesting?
Ask people about different ways to make books (writing) more interesting
Connected with book fairs...
Would visuals be one of the ways?
Giving tips and tricks?
Including interviews?
Who could possibly be experts that can help & guide me through the process?
An author/ preferably psychologist who’s been published (has published various books on -especially clinical- psychology)?
An architect who preferably pays special attention to how the living spaces they design make?
Would adding images, architectural drawings, and diagrams positively impact the engagement of people with my book?
Look at past research done on the effectiveness of visuals in books (or specifically non-fiction books)
Research and see whether visuals are beneficial in conveying a message
Consider your own experience with visuals
Have they helped you grasp/understand concepts better?
