Mesopotamia
Location I know because the land known as ancient mesopotamia was located where modern Iraq is today. Two great rivers the tigris rise in the taurus mountains to join the euphrates river Page 6 (Steele)
Religion, The Author said that the sumerians worshipped many gods and goddesses. This is called polytheism, they worshipped Nanna the Moon God, Enki the Water God and Wisdom, and many more. They worship the gods by building buildings called Ziggurats, these were made out of mud and straw, they believed that the higher they are the closer they are to the gods. Page 14,26 (Steele)
Writing, The Author wrote that "By around 3300 BCE the citizens of uruk were using about 700 different symbols, or pictographs. These were pressed into soft clay with a stylus, leaving a wedge-shaped mark that then harden (Steele) page 12
Government, On page 30 It says Babylon is first mentioned more than 4,300 years ago as a city of the akkadian empire. by 1900 BCE it had been taken over by the Amurru.
Architecture, On page 14 it said "Ziggurats looked similar to the stepped pyramids of ancient egypt, which were used as royal tombs."(steele)
Art, The author said on page 28 that "They were molding clay into simple pots by the eighth millennium BCE. Some time before 3500 BCE, they invented the potter's wheel which made pottery production far more efficient. " also on page 28 The text also said that "By 3000 BCE metalworkers were mixing tin with the copper to produce the tough alloy called bronze." (Steele)
Ancient Egypt
Religion, they were polytheistic, I know because on page 24 it said "The egyptians worshipped hundreds of different gods and goddesses, and sometimes it was difficult to work out who was who." (Hart 24)
Government, On page 10 the author said, "The king was not only the most powerful and important man in egypt. He was thought to be a god". there is also a queen called the "Great Royal Wife" (Hart 10)
Location, On page 8 the author said, "The Egyptians lived on the banks of the Nile River or the beside canales extending from it." they named it the "Red Land" because 0ver 90% of the land was desert (Hart 8)
Writing, On page 34 it said, Scribes had to be experts in writing hieroglyphs. Also on page 34 it said, It was deliberetly kept complicated so that not too many people could master it (Hart 34)

writing- On page 11 it says that oracle bones were used to talk with ancestral spirits. The oracle bone answered their questions. after the questions were answered they were inscribed on the bones which were typicly ox bones or tortoise shells (Cotterell 11)
