Unit Two: Ancient Civilizations
Mesopotamia
Location: I know because the land known as ancient Mesopotamia was located where modern Iraq is at today. A great river, the Tigris, rise in the Taurus Mountains to join the Euphrates river. (Steele 6)
Writing:On page 32 it said in the form of clay tablet written by a trainee scribe nearly 4000 years ago. People also learned to trim their reed stylus. (steel 32)
Government:In the text it talked about how their government used a lot of trade. And it said people moved to Mesopotamia because of the great government. :
Architecture:On pagest 25 it said the descents of the Noah,quarreled when the building of babel tells the meaning of the foundation. The vision dates from 1563 ,when the canvas was painted by the artist pieter Bruegel the Elder. (steel 25)
Art:They love crafts and other art things to do. They liked to make carved wood statues.
Realigion: An example is that they love poetry, art, and music. Music was played on special occasions for the glory of the gods. Pg:26
Ancient Egypt
Location:On page 8 it said over 90% of Egypt was covered by desert which they named the "Red Land." During ancient Egypt, the people lived on the banks of the Nile that would flood to make the land fertile.(Hart 8)
Art:On page 56 it states that the necklace was made out of stones. It states that the pottery vase was made out of clay.(Hart 56)
Government:The author stated that the pharaoh was at the top. Slaves were at the bottom. (Hart 10)
Religion:In the text it stated that their tribe was polytheistic. It also states that people would tell the difference between gods by animals.(Hart 24)
Writing:On page 34 it said that the form of writing they used was called hieratic. It also said that their writing could be written in any direction.(Hart 34)
Architecture:On page 20 it said that the first pyramid was built by King Djoser because of his gift of architecture. It also said that the largest pyramid was named the Great Pyramid.(Hart 20)
Ancient India
Location: In the text it said the valley was very good for agriculture because it had well soil. Around 5,000 years ago the alluvial plain developed into a civilization. The Indus valley covers most of the modern day Pakistan. Prentice Hall world studies
technology: In the text it said that there hygiene and sanitation was very advanced for their time. They were able to obtain water from wells. Lots of people cared about their hygiene. Prentice Hall world studies
Government: In the text it stated there are four classes. Every class has a different importance and meaning. They were divided upon wealth. Prentice Hall world Studies.
Religion: In the text it said that Hinduism is popular in religion. They are polytheistic. The Vedas is mostly religious text. Prentice Hall world studies
Writing: In the text it said that they wrote on many different materials. They used symbols. They had over 400 symbols. Prentice Hall world studies
Architecture: In the text it stated that they had very advanced building skills and materials. The walls were constructed to protect them from floods as much as anything. The buildings were very well planned. Prentice Hall world studies
