Ancient Civilizations
Mesopotamia
Religion. On page 14 it says that Sumerians, Mesopotamians, and Assyrians were all polytheistic. It also says on page 14 that they had a clay figure of a god's sister named Ereshkigal.

Government. In their government they have the hammurabi code. I know this because when we did the KIP#6 we learned about hammurabi code and how mesopotamians were the only ones that had used it.
Writing. The author wrote that they pressed a stylus into soft clay to talk after it had dried to send it. They also had used this to record business deals, government, and ownership.
Location. On page 6-7 it said at one time Mesopotamia existed in Turkey, Syria, and southwestern Iran. Mesopotamia was also located next to two great rivers the Tigris which rises from the Taurus mountain as well as the Euphrates. (Steele 6)
Architecture. In the text it said that Ziggurats were buildings that began in the reign of Ur-Nammu. These buildings were made of sun dried mud bricks faced with fire bricks. (Steele 24-25)

Writing. I know because the oracle bone was used to consult the spirits of ancestors. These were usually constructed from an ox bone or tortoise shell. Cracks formed would help them find answers to questions. (Cotterell 11)
