Mesopotamia
Location
On page 6-7 it said that Mesopotamia lays in the borders of Iraq. Mesopotamia is also nearby the Tigris river which is near the Taurus mountains as well Euphrates. (steele)

On pages 28-29 it talks about art in Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia mastered many technologies and crafts. They were molding clay into simple pots. (steele)
Architecture
In the book on page 24-25 it talks about. Ziggurats, a Ziggurat is a massive terraced plate from made of brick. Ziggurats are based off stepped pyramids. Which were used as royal tombs.

Goverment
In pages 30-31 it talks about the government of Mesopotamia. Babylon is first mentioned more than 4300 years ago, as a city of Akkadian empire. Babylon became the most civilized of the cities. Its greatest ruler was king Hammurabi. Hammurabi code was one of the first laws in Mesopotamia.
Writing
In the text on page 12-13. The Sumerians devised the world's first script of writing system. At first they used pictures and symbols to represent objects such as cattle, grain, or fish. By 3300 bce the citizens of Uruk were using about 700 different symbols, or pictographs. (steele)
Religion
In the book on pages 14-15 it talks about the Mesopotamians religion. The Sumerians worshiped many gods. They believed that shooting stars were cows of sin or Nanna, the horned Moon god. Enki who is the god of water and wisdom. Enlil was the father of all of the gods. Inanna the god of love and war.(steele)
Ancient Egypt
Religion
On pages 24-25 it talks about the gods of Ancient Egypt. The Egyptians worshiped many gods like the Mesopotamians. Many of the gods are represented as animals. ( George Hart)
Art
In theses pages 56-57. In Egypt you can find art every. There are Egyptian jewelry mines between the Nile and the Red sea. They mine gold at these mines for their jewelry. Goldsmiths who make the jewelry. Molds the gold into shapes. (George Hart)
Writing
In the book it talks about the writing in Ancient Egypt. On pages 34-35 Ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphics, is an elaborate form of picture or writing with 700 different sings. The writing was kept complicated so not to many people could use it. (George Hart
Location
On pages 8-9 the Ancient Egyptians live alongside the Nile river. Nile river floods which brings up rich silt and makes the land fertile. In the text it also says that 90% of Ancient Egypt was covered by desert called the Red Land. (George Hart)
Architecture
In pages 20-21 it talks about the great pyramids. The first pyramid was built in 2650 BCE for King Djoser. It rose in six stages and was supposed to be a stairway for the king to walk up. (George hart)
Government
In page 10 the king who is the most powerful and important man in Egypt. The king was thought to be a god the king is known as a pharaoh. Pharaoh in Ancient Egypt was a word that derives respect. (George Hart)

Architecture/Technology
In the text it says that Indus valley was very advanced at its time. The author wrote "The people within the Indus Valley created well-planned cities." It also talks about how they had very advanced construction techniques. An example of this is "the walls were probably constructed to protect them as much from floods as from outside attackers."(Prentice Hall World studies)
Location
In the text of History of South Asia it says "around 5,000 year ago a civilisation developed along the Indus River." An example is why they built their civilization around the river is because "of large amount of fertile land and proximity to a water source." In the text it said over time, settlements were built on the banks of the Indus River and surrounding areas. (Prentice Hall World studies)
Religion
The author of the History of South Asia wrote that "Much of what we know about them today also came from sacred writing called the Vedas." The Vedas are religious text. Ancient India believe in two religions such as Brahmanism which is polytheistic and help build up to the religion Hinduism.(Prentice Hall World studies)
Government
In the text it said "The Aryan civilization had a large impact on modern-day India society. " Making the caste system. According to the text the caste system is "a social group in which people are born and they cannot change." The caste system began because the Aryans had several different classes.(Prentice Hall World studies)

In the text it said that "Some scholars have wondered whether these symbols actually constituted a proper writing system. " This is saying that they really didn't have a proper from of writing. They also says "one of the most confusing aspects of this ancient civilization is that the writing cannot be deciphered."(Prentice Hall World studies)
