Writing: I know because the oracle bone was used to consult the spirits of ancestors. Usually it was constructed from an ox bone or tortoiseshell. Cracks formed would help them find answers to questions. (Cotterell 11)

Ancient India
Writing: In the text it said that there writing can not be deciphered, but they have uncovered from different locations, over 400 symbols. A multitude of the symbols have been found on seals, ceramic pots, and other things, but at the same time scholars wonder weather the symbols are a proper writing system. Due to the symbols lacking disherable text, they give no incite to details about the Indus Society. (Prentice Hall: World Studies)
Architecture/Technology: THe web page said that Indus Valley people created well planned cities because they deeply cared about hygiene. Early cities like these showed the earliest system, for example, some rooms had facilities where waste water was directed to cover rains which lined major streets. Protective walls, brick platforms, warehouses, granieries, and dockyards are the work of the impressive Indus Cities architecture. (Prentice Hall: World Studies)
Government: The author says people were born into social groups they couldn't change called caste. The Aryans had four social classes called the varans which began the caste system. The division was based on wealth and occupation the following listed are the groups; Brahmana (Brahmin): priests and educated, Kshatriya: rulers and warriors, Vaishya: farmers, artisans, merchants, Sudra: laborers and servants, Dalits "Untouchables": outside of a caste and considered the lowest members of society. Religion: The text states that Brahmanism was the religion of the ancient Aryans, it was polytheistic and wass the later developed Hinduism which was heavily influenced. The religions Brahmanism and Hinduism share many rituals and have much in common. Religions texts called Verdas, that also described popular victories of the invasions of India by the Aryans. Location: The author wrote along the Indus River an alluvial plain that civilization developed 5,000 years ago. Remains of 4,000 year old cities, which were part of Ancient Egyptian times, and Mesopotamian times. were discovered by archeologist under layers of land and dirt, in the 1920s. A region rich in fertile soil and ideal for agriculture, was the Indus Valley Religion. (Prentice Hall: World Studie)
