Mesopotamia
Religion: On page 14, it said that the Sumerians worshiped many gods. When you worship many gods that means that you are polytheistic. They also believed in spirits, ghosts, and demons. The believed they lived in certain places around them. (Steele)
Location: On page 6-7, it said at one time Mesopotamia existed in modern-day Turkey, Syria, and southwestern Iran. Mesopotamia also was located next to two great rivers, the Tigris which rises from the Taurus Mountains as well as the Euphrates.(Steele 6)
Government: On pages 16-18 it said many people moved to have country life and city life. People moved to the city because these had become the center of government and trade. People moved into the country because they were able to pay taxes using crops. (Steele)
Writing: On page 12 and 13, it said the Sumerians devised the world's first script. These were made by pressing into soft clay with a stylus, leaving a wedge shaped mark.Over the centuries the marks turned a script that represented. This writing is called cuneiform.(Steele)
Art: On page 44, it said hunting was a good part in Mesopotamia. Eventually farming replaced hunting. But the art of hunting still continued in wetlands, forests, and mountains. Also, hunting was used to show off the king. (Steele)
Architecture: On page 24-25, it said ziggurats are a giant platform made of brick. The bricks on the platform stick together from sun dried mud. These buildings represent mountains, stretching from heaven to earth. The Ziggurat were created as early as 5000 BCE. (Steele)

Writing: I know because the oracle bone was used to consult the spirits of ancestors. Usually, it was constructed from an ox bone or tortoiseshell. Cracks formed would help them find answers to questions. (Cotterell 11)

Ancient India
Writing: The author wrote, that there writing has over 400 symbols have been uncovered from different locations. A lot of the symbols are located on seals, ceramic pots, and other materials. They wonder if this is a proper writing system and cannot insight into many details of the Indus society. (Prentice Hall World Studies)
Architecture/Technology: The author wrote, that the people of the Indus river made well planned cities. Within many of the homes, some rooms had facilities in which waste water was directed to cover drains and these lined the major streets. The architecture and construction techniques of the Indus RIver is shown with amazing warehouses, granaries, brick platforms, dockyards, and finally protective walls. (Prentice Hall World Studies)
Government: In the text it states, that they use the caste system. It is the shape of a pyramid the top is the most important and as it goes down it gets less important. On the top of the pyramid are the Brahmana, they are priests and are educated, The second to top is the Kshatriya, which are rulers and warriors, Next are the Vaishyas which are farmers, artisans, and merchants, the next one are the Sudras, which are laborers and servants, the people on the very bottom are Dalits "Untouchables", which are outside of a caste and considered the lowest members of society. Religion: In the text it states, that the Aryans religion was Brahmanism. Which Brahmanism was influenced the later developed Hinduism. Each of these religions are very similar and share a lot of rituals. (Prentice Hall World Studies)
Location: The author wrote, that around 5,000 years ago, a civilization developed along the Indus River alluvial plain , in South Asia, because of the big amount of fertile land and proximity to a water source. The Indus River Valley covers most of Pakistan. It also covers the northwestern region of India, and a small part of Afghanistan.(Prentice Hall World Studies)
