Conflict
The conflict of Scarlet Letter is: Hester Prynn has been committed of adultery and is trying to live her life after being ridiculed as well as raising her child.
"The scene was not without a mixture of awe, such as must always invest the spectacle of guilt and shame in a fellow-creature" (Scarlet Letter)
This shows that no one in the town had respect for her after what she had done. They all showed shame towards her. This made Hester's life very tough.
