- - - - The Prime Minister of New Zealand said the definition of development has shifted from just considering the economic point of view, to including human rights, conflict resolution, enviromental stability, gender equality and peace.
    - - The United Nations Millenium Summit in 200, emphasized eight worldwide objectives from the erradication of extreme poverty, hunger, to combating HIV, to the establishing of a global partnership for development. They do not take into account inclusive social goals for development and they depended on organizations with goals derived from capitalist development.
      - David Harvey, an economist, agrees that without goals focused on the growth of capitalist societies and the expansion of capital, the system would collapse.
