Microcosm/Stereotype #2 Every American owns a gun.
One key and defining characteristic of gun owners is the extent to which they associate the right to own guns with their own personal sense of freedom – 74% of gun owners say this right is essential, compared with only 35% of non-gun owners who say the same.
While the right to own guns is highly valued by most gun owners, not all gun owners see gun ownership the same way. Half of all gun owners say owning a gun is important to their overall identity

Anecdotal testimony. I think that the reason or one reason people think we all own guns is because of how high school shooting rates and just shooting rates are in America also the fact that most people take large pride and even tend to boast about how many or what type of gun the own.
Anecdotal exemption. There are plenty of people who don't believe in hunting or violence so they don't own guns this makes it unfair to them to be stereotyped when they have never and probably will never own a gun.
Microcosm/Stereotype #1 Americans are loud and obnoxious.
We can thank the scores of American tourists who flout local cultural norms for giving us a bad rap in many countries.
By simply being respectful of other cultures and remembering to follow local customs, you can help defy this stereotype many people hold of Americans.

Anecdotal testimony. I think one reason that people think Americans are so loud and obnoxious is because when we go and vacations Orr travel anywhere we tend to be more out going or talkative then others around us therefor giving us the stereotype of being loud and obnoxious.
Anecdotal exemption. some times that could go against this is when we are in areas that don't speak the same language or have some of the same traditions we have. this could make us lean toward are shy side and not be as outgoing.

Microcosm /stereotype #1 Sports
The United States have been a powerhouse in world sports for a long time. Americans take great pride in their sporting accomplishments, and sports are an important part of their culture. There’s no doubt, United States rule in well-known sports such as basketball, baseball and their home grown sport of American football. . Robert Wood,2014

Anecdotal testimony The love for sports is very true I think about the Olympic s and how every year we dominate for the most part with sport being apart of are live from when we are kids to win we are gone its very important in America.
Anecdotal exemption. I know some people who hate sports in America and hate to do active things like sports for this reason the are exempted from the love of sports which isn't a bad thing I just think they are missing out.
Microcosm /stereotype #2. . The to go concepts.
On any given day in the United States, 6% of the entire country will be eating take-out for one meal or another. Whether it’s ordered with a touch on an app, a few clicks on a website or a quick phone call to the neighborhood pizza joint, delivery food can seem like just another modern convenience. But a jaunt through culinary history quickly reveals that there’s nothing new about the concept of take-out. In fact, for as long as there have been advanced societies, humans have been buying food to go.

Anecdotal testimony. I know this to be very true I probably eat to go food 4 days out of the week its just so quick and easy to get it out of the way which in America you don't have time to sit and eat for if your sitting your wasting time where you could be working or doing other projects.
Anecdotal exemption. some family like to sit down and take time to eat and talk about there day and what they did sharing stories they are also the type who think fast food can be un healthy and they won't eat it because its bad for them.

Microcosm/Stereotype #1 passion for Freedom
The founding fathers set a high standard of ideals for the new nation to live up to back in 1776. But from the very beginning, debate about the best way to do that has been an inherent part of the American experiment. Since its founding, the United States has had both high and low moments on its road to ensuring freedom and equality for its citizens. Take a look back at eight moments in history when the nation made strides toward ensuring life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness—for all

SARAH PRUITT 2018
Anecdotal testimony. Most Americans love the freedom and this is also why lots of people come to America is to be free and have a chance to live a life of riches and fun. we all take total advantage with not know what other countries are like but at the same time we really appreciate having the freedoms we have.
Anecdotal exemption. there are some people who want America to have less freedoms and a more socialist government why you may ask I have no idea I guess it just fits there style of life. but i think freedom is much more worth it.
Microcosm/Stereotype #2 Pursuit of Education
Education is a fundamental right that all individuals should benefit from. It provides the stepping stone for a person’s development and success and is a formative process throughout their lives. When it comes to higher education, the United States has become one of the most popular destinations in the world for further studies.

Anecdotal testimony. It very important for the life and happiness the better the education the better of a life you can make for yourself with higher paying jobs and more benefits to come along with that
Anecdotal exemption Some people don't see benefits to getting education which isn't bad because there are many jobs where you can make lots of money by just doing hard work and these require no education.

Microcosm/Stereotype #1 Americans only eat junk
Fast food has become a major part of the American diet, and a new report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reveals just how many adults eat it.
Between 2013 and 2016, about 37% of US adults consumed fast food on any given day, according to the data brief published Wednesday by the National Center Jacqueline Howard,2018
https://edition.cnn.com/2018/10/03/health/fast-food-consumption-cdc-study/index.html
Anecdotal testimony One reason people may think we just eat junk is because of how many fat people there are in America this can lead other countries to think all we buy is junk not to mention all other the other fast food things we consume
Anecdotal exemption We do have many peoples diets that are focused around just eating unhealthy things this is what has caused a weight problem in some of America also the selling of tons of junk candy and other items.
Microcosm/Stereotype #2 They are very patriotic
Beyond fireworks and outdoor parties, the Fourth of July provides an opportunity for citizens across the United States to reflect on what it means to be an American. Despite increasing polarization, people across the political spectrum appear to be largely united on what it means to be patriotic, according to new findings from the McCourtney Institute for Democracy’s Mood of the Nation Poll.
“The results of the poll showed that many of our traditional symbols and ideals of patriotism are embraced enthusiastically by liberals and conservatives; Democrats, Republicans and Independents; people of all colors; young and old alike,” said Eric Plutzer, the poll’s director and professor of political science. “However, it also showed that Americans have different views on what it means to be patriotic.” McCourtney Institute,2019
https://news.psu.edu/story/578883/2019/07/01/research/though-politically-divided-americans-remain-patriotic
Anecdotal testimony I would agree we are very patriotic and have lots of way of sowing it from the national anthem to the Fourth of July and many more holidays celebrating being American.
