ECG
Tachycarrhythmias
Ventricular Premature Complex (VPC)
Ventricular contraction without atrial systole
no P and T wave
(only wider and bizarre QRS complexes)
Cause:
pain, hypoxia, high CO2, stress, cardiac disease, sepsis
Ventricular Tachycardia
More than 3 continuous VPC
P & T waves present but overlapped by
big and quick QRS complexes
Causing no cardiac output --> arrest
Sinus Tachycardia
Complete wave
Higher HR than normal
(>180 for small/ >160 for large)
Caused by hypotension, hypoxia
(shock, anaemia, sepsis)
Bradyarrhythmias
Sinus Bradycardia
Complete wave
Lower HR than normal
(<100 for small/ <60 for large)
Cause:
deep anaesthesia, too cold, drug,
advanced hypoxia --> no energy for contraction
Atrioventricular Block (AV block)
1st degree: Delayed signal (longer PR interval)
2nd degree: type 1: lengthen PR interval+ missing QRST every 3-4 beats
type 2: QRST missing every 3-4 beats
3rd degree: Ventricular beat independent of Atrial beat
Normal Sinus
P wave
QRS interval
T wave
