EUROPEAN PLAIN
Drainage
Central and East European plain
Poorly developed
Mostly covered in glacial deposits called moraine
Most parts of the central European plain are therefore covered in unproductive wet lands
Sandy dune lands windblown less deposits border the north and Baltic sea and spread from france to western Russia
In Netherlands the river rhine brings land deposits favorable for agriculture
Garone and loire rivers drain most of france before entering bay of Biscay
Ardens Loraine all meet with lower rhine
ECONOMY
-Region of major Agricultural importance
-It remains predominantly agricultural
-Since the 19th century it has been one of the worlds major heavy industrial regions
-In the west, along the Rhine river, the Netherlands, Belgium, and northern France, is Europes most important centre of coal, steel and chemical production.
-Since the end of WWII increasing importance of bulky imported raw materials to Europes economy has made large seaports (Hamburg and Rotterdam) major centres of industry

Varsican/Hercynian/Armorican orogony
-It's a geologic mountain building
caused by late paleozoic continental collision between Euramerica and Gondowa to form Pangaea
It evolved during the Devonian and Carboniferous periods 419-299 million years ago :
Extends from Portugal, western Spain, southwestern Ireland, southwestern England, the Ardennes,France, Sardinia, Germany, and the Czech republic
formed by plate-tectonic processes (seafloor spreading, continental drift, and collision of plates
Extensive sandstones derived from the continent were deposited
During the caboniferous period limestones were laid in shallow water. bassalt is found within pillow lavas (aggregates of ovoid masses)
There is evidence of extensive thrusting
tectonic development of the Hercynian orogeny led to widespread mineral deposits. eg: copper, lead, zinc, tin, tungsten, and uranium
The elements are mostly found in Silesia (poland/germany), spain, the massif central, and Portugal
physical geography
.
Major river drainages: rhine ,ems ,elbe, oder, and vistula
• This part is located under the Baltic sea
• Flat undulating terrain.
• Landscape mostly post glacial
• Western and central European plain covers france Belgium Netherlands southern Scandinavia Germany and Poland and parts of eastern England
• Overall pretty flat but broken up by hills in the west
• In some parts of Russia it exceeds 3,200 km
• 320km in width on average
• Western central and Russian\East European Plain
Eastern plain Estonia Lithuania Latvia Belarus and finland
Underlain by rigid platform of ancient rocks
Underlain with crystalline rocks and is a part of Precambrian Baltic shield
Many lakes and glacial deposits
