cells - Coggle Diagram
cells
PARTS OF PLANTS CELL
cell wall
- cells wall gives the cell its shape and structure
- made up of cellulose
- thick layer surrounding the cell membrane
cytoplasm
- jelly-like substance where chemical reactions can take place
- allows the substances to move around in the cell
cell membrane
- a partially permeable substance that controls the movement of substances in and out of the cell
- thin membrane surrounding the cell
- acts as a boundary between the cell & the external environment
- controls substances entering/ leaving the cell
vacuole
- vacuole contains nutrients and water for the cell.
- it contains cell sap which is made up of nutrients, mineral salts and food.
- usually in single large space surrounded by membrane
chloroplast
- contains chlorophyll that traps sunlight for photosynthesis
Nucleus
- controls the activities in the cell including of worn out parts.
- contains genetic material called chromosomes
- largest part of the cell - responsible for alive
- spherical shapes
- keeps the cell alive
chromosomes
- long thread-like structures that are found in the nucleus
- contains genes that carry genetic material that determine hereditary
- passed down from the parent to the offspring
