GITHUB BARRIERS
Lack of Self-confidence
I am inexperienced*
I do not report bugs because I'm not sure if it is bug or a gap in my understanding
My projects are not good enough and people have done much better already
I know I will not get attention in any big projects
My projects are too small to get attention from people
If my projects are good enough, I post them online
Time related Barriers
I do not have time to create PR so I raise issues
I raise issues only when it is not taking much of my time
My school work keeps me occupied
I do not have time to even raise issues
I do not have time to find projects on open-source and collaborate
Desire to remain in comfort zone
I never sought collaboration online
I prefer to contribute to repositories of people I know
I'm more comfortable in collaborating within known circle only *
Not willing to apply efforts
If creating a PR is a lot of work, I just raise issues
I participate in only those open-source projects that I am personally using
I am not willing to find people and to get them on board for my projects
Expecting immediate benefits from participation
I do not see any direct benefit to participation in open-source *
I am more interested in participating when my work gets attention
Lack of interest in participation
Open participation is not my hobby *
I have never seen any project in that much detail, so I never felt like participating
Trust issues
I do not trust strangers to work on my projects
I do not trust stranger's algorithms directly to use in my projects
