1912 Strikes
Workers were not satisfied with the quality of life and want to work however, they are unable to work and as a result of this they are protesting. The work conditions for these workers are very poor so they formed trade unions and moved the working class towards political movement. Due to factories being used so much due to the industrial revolution the workers were not satisfied anymore with the standards and were showing their disscontempt by striking until there were changes made.
The long hard struggle eventually resulted in a positive change for the working class across the country.
Poverty and The Great Depression
Due to such little funding, living standards for workers were poor and overcrowded. They received very little payment for their work. Many businesses and families struggled during this economic crash.

Socialism vs Capitalism
Socialism is a view that everyone lives as part of a community and that work should be shared equally and the good s that are produced should be shared between those who helped create it.
Capitalism is an economic system about the private ownership of distribution and production of goods. Based on the principles of individual right.

At the start of the 20th women were expected to stay at home looking after the kids and doing housework.
WW1 started and womens roles in society dramatically changed with them taking over jobs that were traditionally done by men.
The Suffragettes fought for womens rights and eventually the government gave women over 30 the right to vote in 1918
The 1945 Election
Labour's main policies were to try and appeal to everyone. There was a focus on improving women's rights, such as providing 'decent pensions' for women. Labour also focused on providing security for people across the nation, including a 'full national effort for housing'.
Labour won because of social reform.
Life in 1912
Reasons for WW1 were the assassination of Arch Duke Ferdinand, many of the allies disliked the power of the central powers, an ideological struggle between France,Uk and Russia who had democratic heritage and dictatorship.
German victory in WW1 would've snuffed out liberal democracy in Europe.
There was a larger gap in classes. lots of high class and low class but less middle class.
Life in 1945
The welfare state is a form of government in which the state protects and promotes the economic and social well-being of the citizens. A person can get support whether in healthcare or old age.
