I said self motivation because a lot of my decisions and what I decide to do come from a place of whether it is actually something I want to do or if it is something that will benefit me.
Books have had a major impact on my life. They taught me that anyone can be a hero and that there are many different types of strength. They helped me see that life is not black and white and that all actions cannot be condemned or condoned.
My best friend is very resilient. She deals with a lot and hardly loses her temper. She has inspired me to be patient and that good things come to those who wait.
My brother taught me that anything can be fascinating and to have a sense of curiosity. Since he’s 7 years younger than me, I babysat him and took a lot of responsibility with him and it taught me a lot about caring for others and unconditional loyalty.
My dad introduces new ideas to me and helps me see the world from different points of views. He inspires me to put myself in someone else’s shoes. My mom has a strong sense of right and wrong and she works in the STEM field, despite many obstacles. She inspires me to stand up for people and to never back down from a challenge.
Travel gave me perspective. I’ve been to resorts, but also third world countries and it gave me an appreciation for everything I have. I have had to adapt to many circumstances and it makes me want to help others and never judge someone for having less than me because the only difference between us is the circumstance we were born into.
Social Media taught me that your voice is heard, even when you don’t want it to be and you have to make sure you spread positivity. A lot of things in this world have the opportunity to be good or bad and it all depends on what you make of it.
Nature has given me a sense of perspective. In the grand scheme of things, our lives aren’t so important, so one mistake isn’t the end of the world. It also taught me that life has a balance.
