Pre Assessment Strategy For Differentiating Instruction
The 5 students who appear to have limited knowledge about the topic
Prioritize task by using stars or highlighters
Proximity and Monitoring
Provide rubrics with expectations before assigning a task
Have them write down what they know
Clarify the task
The 12 students who have some knowledge about the topic. Need to develop high order thinking skills.
Provide work samples as models
Modify worksheets and homework according to the capacity of the students'
The Instruction Model for these students will be introduction, guided practice followed by independent practice.
Use of online resources and games like Edpuzzle to teach and test
Cooperative learning strategies with clear defined roles. Example: Think Pair Share
Use of physical manipulatives

The 5 students who answered most of the pre assessment questions correctly.
Tiered Assignments: In Elementary Science class, these students will be grouped together and will be performing activities and experiments similar to their other peer groups but by using more challenging and in-depth questions and requirements.
Extension Activities. A good example is posing these students with open ended and real world problems.
Independent Study and Use of Advanced Materials: The Group is allowed to select, research and demonstrate a topic of their interest.
Performance Based Tasks. For example, in Science, I will ask the students in this Group to depicting the data using the graph, labeling the graph, write statements about what data in the graph DO show and two statements about what the data DO NOT show
ELL and Determined Students
2 students: little to no comprehension- need to be tested for special needs
Use of flashcards to aid in study and recall
Multi sensory instruction
Present information in multiple formats like graphics and charts
One to one tutoring
Specialist assessment
3 struggling ELL students at different reading levels
Scaffolding
Use of review games to make learning fun
Mnemonics and memory aides
Word bank
Have students develop a plan to identify the steps needed to be taken to complete the task
Pre teach vocabulary across the content
Pairing key academic vocabulary with native language equivalents or visual cues
