Pre-Assessment for Differentiation
5 students who answered most, including the most difficult, of the pre-assessment questions correctly
Give them the option to do additional classwork or a more challenging version of an assignment
In a lesson about chemical compounds, provide them a list of compounds commonly found in household items and have them figure out which items match with each compound.
Provide them with the opportunity to be a mentor for another struggling student
Check in with the student to see how they feel about being a mentor, if they want to continue it, or if it is too much
12 students who have some knowledge about the topic as shown in their score, but need to develop higher order thinking skills
Provide them with more hands-on activities in which they can tie the lesson into real life applications
This can be applied to all assignments and even become a new category on a rubric
Encourage students to ask questions
You can even ask that the student researches the question at home and present it to the class the next day
5 students who appear to have limited knowledge about the topic including reading and comprehension
