What criteria can we use to distinguish between knowledge, belief, and opinion? (CV)
Knowledge
-
Does knowledge have to have proof, in order to knowledge rather than belief or an opinion? (One argument: yes, that's what makes it knowledge).
Knowledge is information or skills acquired through experience or education (dictionary definition?)
-
Can't be lost, whereas belief and opinion can?
-
Opinion w/o perspective
We can make the claim that beliefs and opinions are actually knowledge claims, but with much less certainty
True, even if that means that we don't possess it
For example: maybe you don't know that you are adopted, and you believe you weren't adopted, and that belief doesn't rise to the level of knowledge. There's potential knowledge, if you find out the truth
-
Belief
Acceptance that a statement that something is true, without necessarily having proof
Lower certainty level than knowledge, and more subjective
Aren't factual, or at least there is more disagreement about them
-
-
-
Opinion
A concept that someone has about something, and can be related to (?) belief or knowledge
-
But, opinions may not need to be based any evidence
