They calculated the length of a year. They were off by 3 hours so they do not officially have the title of creating it.

One of the accomplishments of the Gupta empire was that they contributed to geometry and made mathematical advancements.

Caste system

The caste system divides hindus into 4 groups the Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and the Shudras

Vedas

The Vedas are the eternal truths that are revealed by god. The Vedas are large forms of ancient Sanskrit, they are the oldest layer of Sanskrit and the oldest scripture of Hinduism.

The upanishads are Vedic sanskrit that includes religious teachings and text

Brahman and the Holy Trinity of Shiva

Shiva is a part of the Hindu Trinity along with Brahman and Vishnu, Shiva is the destroyer this is needed because without destruction there cannot be recreation. Brah man is part of the highest Hindu caste which is known as the preisthood.

Stages of Evolution

The consciousness goes through stages, hypostases, becoming more material and embodied, then turning around to return to the One, it retraces its steps through spiritual knowledge, contemplating and ascent.

Four Yogas

There are many ways to practice yoga but there are 4 primary practices which include karma, bhakti, jnana, and raja. All four practices also require a starting point based in morality.

Siddharta and Buddah

Buddah was born SIddarta Guatama he was a philosopher, mendicant, meditator, spiritual teacher, and religious leader. He was the founder of Buddhism.

Four passing sights

The first sight was an old man, the second a sick man, the third sighting was a corps and the last sighting was a holy man. The 4 sights help Buddhists under stand some of the teachings of Buddhism.

Bo tree

Large ancient fig tree, Buddah said the tree attained enlightenment. Each tree shows a journey of enlightlement that every Buddhist seeks.

8 fold path

4 noble truths

The 4 nobles truths represent the essence of Buddha's teachings, "They are the truth of suffering, the truth of the cause of suffering, the truth of the end of suffering, and the truth of the path that leads to the end of suffering.

The 8 fold path is the path to nirvana, its comprised of 8 aspects a participant must practice. They include, right views, intention, speech, action, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration.

Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama is the leader of the Tibeten Buddhists.

Compassion; Bodhisattva

The bodhisattva embodies the compassion of all the Buddha's. In different cultures it may be depicted as a male or female.
