Protein functions
Estructural
Certain glycoproteins are part of cell membranes and act as receptors or facilitate the transport of substances.

Enzimatic
-The proteins with enzymatic function are the most numerous and specialized. They act as biocatalysts for the chemical reactions of cellular metabolism.
Hormonal
Some hormones are protein in nature, such as insulin and glucagon (which regulate blood glucose levels) or hormones secreted by the pituitary such as growth or adrenocorticotropic hormones.
Homeostatic
Some maintain osmotic balance and act together with other buffer systems to keep the pH of the internal environment constant.
