(past simple) talk about a specific occasion in the past, at a definitive time
(present perfect) talk about an expirience at any time in the past.
use finished-time expressions with the past simple, but no with the present perfect
we often use the present perfect to ask and answer about an expirence, then the past simple to give specific information about it
