Makerspace
Place where people work together to create things, using technology or oldschool crafts.
It is used to have a more developed critical thinking, boost self-confidence and have the 21st century skills required for science, math technology, etc.
Tools: Glue gun, vice, legos, laser cutters, etc.
Started as a hackerspace 20 years ago in Germany, which evolved and became makerspaces with machines llike 3D printers.
Fablab
Digital fabrication laboratories that allow entrepreneurs turn their ideas into objects and prototypes.
Originated by Professor Neil in 2006. His original idea was to create self-contained labs with intelligent equipment that could be installed anywhere.
3-axis CNC machines, turning machines, microprocessors, water jet cutters, etc.
It provides the technology, skills and environment required to create cheap things in a fast way anywhere around the world.
Lab 4.0
It would include robotic systems and automation, full digitalization, a flexible, modular work environment, smart materials and functional surfaces. - Labvolution
It comes from the Industry 4.0 as it combines real manufacturing equipment with virtual manufacturing objects. Industry 4.0 means that we are in the 4th industrial revolution, the first industrial revoution started in the 1770´s
"Brings increased automation and digital information transfer in manufacturing."- Scintific computing
It is a futuristic lab in which the technology is able to communicate autonomously and the processes will be automatic.
