Six steps in analyzing an argument
STEP ONE:
Mark
any premise
and
conclusion indicators
found in the argument
Either highlight or underline the premise and conclusion indicators
STEP TWO:
Number the statements consecutively

STEP FOUR:
Arrange the premises and conclusion/conclusions in a diagram, with the premises placed above the conclusion

Conclusion: (4)
STEP FIVE:
Omit any logically irrelevant statements

(1) was omitted because it was not logically adding to the arguments conclusion
STEP SIX:
Add arrows to indicate the relationship between the premises and conclusion

STEP THREE:
Identify the premises and conclusions
By finding your conclusion statement you can find whether the other statements support the conclusion statement. These will be your premises.
