Eating a balanced diet
Fruit and Veg (5 a day)
People who eat their 5 a day have proven to run a lower risk of heart disease, stroke and some cancers
Starchy foods
should base your meals on starchy carbs as they should make up a 1/3 of your diet and give you a high amount of energy and fibre

Try to eat less red and processed meat like bacon, ham and sausages

Eat less saturated fat, sugar and salt
too much saturated fat can increase the amount of cholesterol in the blood which increases the risk of heart disease

eating too much salt can raise your blood pressure which increases your risk of getting heart disease or having stroke
Foods with high amounts of fat, salt and sugar aren't needed in our diet so should be eaten less often and in smaller amounts
eg. chocolate, cakes, biscuits, sugary soft drinks, butter, ghee and ice-cream
