f you’re doing a great job listening, mirroring, and validating, and if you’re being your authentic, vulnerable present self, you should be able to see the other person’s perspective and apply the Platinum Rule without a problem. But even if you’re having trouble figuring out exactly what the other person wants, the beautiful thing is that if you’re in doubt, you can just ask. We all know the adage about what happens when you ASS-ume something, so rather than assuming, simply ask by saying something such as “If I were you, I’d really want X to happen. What do you want to happen?”
