Here we will consider some of the natural abilities and characteristics children posses which help them to learn a foreign language.
Exposure: They are exposure to english all around them, both in and outside school.
A real need for english: they have a need to use english in order to survive on a daily basis.
Variety of input: They are exposed to a wide variety of uses of english.
Time: Children will have plenty of time for learning english and it can be spread over several years.
Meaningful input: They will receive plenty of meaningful language input through experience of english.
By listening and repeating
By imitating the teacher
Through being motivated.
By doing an iteracting with each other.
In a natural way: The same way they learnt their own language.
Through translating sentences.
We may not be aware of how our beliefs affect the way we respond to other people or the way we do our work or the way we teach.
Tape record children's pair or group interacion: Record children doing a particular language-learning activity.
Keep a diary: Write down interesting things you obseve children say or do, then you will use this information in planning.
