Ligaments are bundles of connective tissue that connects one bone to an adjacent bone
The ligaments function is to keep our bones in place and stop us from moving them to far in any direction
Different types of joints in the body and their examples
Saddle joint
Located in the thumb allowing it to move up down left and right but it can't move in a 360 degree motion
Gliding joint
Located in the wrist. The adjacent bones slide over each other for a limited movement allowing a slight movement in all directions
Ball and socket joint
Located in our shoulders moving in a full free 360 degree rotation
Fixed joint
Located in the skull. The fixed joint are joints that are immovable
Hinge joint
Located in our elbows allowing them to move in one direction like a door hinge
