Students who demonstrated little understanding of place value (most answers were incorrect)
I will use the RTI framework to support these students.
Tier 1 - The pre-assessment shown above to identify the needs in the class.
Tier 2 - work closely with these students in a small group setting to teach them the basic concepts of place value. Model how to apply their knowledge to solve problems involving place value. They will learn place value with base-10 blocks and transfer this understanding to standard and expanded form. They will be constantly monitored and assessed.
Tier 3 - Students who failed to understand the concepts in Tier 2 will be screened for special needs with the student support services team. Depending on the results they will receive individualized support with me or with the special education teacher.
