- - - - Due to the primordial language once used to describe the Apostle's Creed, some additional phrases have been appended to clear away any misinterpretations or confusions. The change was made circa fourth century. However, despite the changes, the sole essence of the system all Christians follow remains unchanged
      - Specifically, some of these additional phrases were included to establish the message of the Holy Trinity; that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one. As a result, it disproves all false teachings; such as Marcion's, in which he roguishly claimed that the God in the Old Testament and the New Testament are different.
        
        What are examples of such false teachings that we need to be wary of and refrain from?
        
        Marcion's Teaching
        
        In short, Marcion believed that the God from the old testament, in which he describes the LORD as a God filled with rage (where war, death, and curses often happened) was utterly dissimilar to the loving, merciful, and graceful God of the new testament.
        
        As we all know, God's holy word, written in the Bible, directly invalidates these false teachings. The LORD God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one. They are inseparable. Therefore, we, as faithful disciples of the LORD, must prevent the spreading of such false teachings, as these teachings directly go against God's holy word.
        
        Arius' Teaching
        
        Arius, however, believed that Jesus was essentially disparate from the LORD God. He vehemently believed that Jesus was just God's creation. He further elaborated that despite Jesus being more divine than human, he believed that Jesus was not as divine as God
      - The first few Christian creeds have always followed the foundational idea of the Holy Trinity.
  - - - What makes Jesus divine? He possesses the foundational characteristics of a divine being. Such characteristics include omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence, self-existence, eternal life, etc.
        
        One proof of his divinity is when he rose a girl from the hands of death, shown by this biblical verse: "Jesus creates life, raising a young girl from the dead, simply by commanding her to live.”
        The ability to perform such miracles, to bring someone back from the dead, is sufficient proof that Jesus truly is a divine being.
      - What makes Jesus human too? Jesus possessed several personalities special to mankind, such as the ability to feel hunger, rage, excruciating pain, ignorance, etc.
        
        Why must Jesus be human too? “If Christ is not truly human, He cannot atone for our sin, for only a human being can atone for the sin of other human beings.” This verse shows us that Jesus had to be human to forgive the debt of sin that we carry. If he came down to Earth without any human attributes, we will surely die and our sins will remain buried deep within our nature. However, with Jesus possessing human characteristics, he was able to free us from sin, allowing us to rebuild our relationship with the LORD God.
        
        The following verses further prove Jesus had human qualities too in order to atone us from our sins
        
        He was born (Matt. 1:25, 2:2; Luke 2:7, 11
        
        He was circumcised (Luke 2:21).
        
        He thirsted (John 4:7, 19:28).
        
        He slept (Matt. 8:24; Mark 4:38).
        
        He became weary (John 4:6).
        
        He was a man of sorrows (Isa. 53:3–4; Luke 22:44; John 11:33, 12:27).
        
        He was beaten (Matt. 26:67; Luke 22:64).
        
        He was nailed to the cross (Luke 23:33; Ps. 22:16).
        
        He died (John 19:30).
        
        He was pierced in His side (John 19:34).
        
        He was buried (Matt. 27:59–60; Mark 15:46).
        
        He hungered (Matt. 4:2, 21:18).
        
        He wept (Luke 19:41; John 11:35).
        
        What can we learn from Jesus being human too? Despite the tantalizing temptations Jesus faced, he resisted them all. He persisted and remain faithful to the LORD God. He experienced the daily lusts for sin that we constantly experience each and every day of our lives. And yet, He remained faithful. Therefore, through Him, we can pray to Him and ask him for guidance to help us against sin. Furthermore, we can set him as our example or as a role model. We should aspire to resist the temptations as He did. We must fight against the devil's tricks like He did. We must remain faithful and loyal to God like He did. As a result, He living proof that we do not have to go through our lives alone and that He will guide and protect us against sin, whilst also giving us motivation and encouragement to continue our battle against sin. Amen.
- - - - The Scourging is where the Romans placed a sentence on Jesus, even though he was innocent. The Romans stripped Jesus off of his clothes and tied him to a post and whipped with leather intertwined with metallic shards or even bones. Even worse, the roman legionnaires who were sent to torture Jesus was not given any limit to the amount of whips Jesus had to bear.

      - Furthermore, the Roman army, composed of 600 soldiers during that time, mocked Jesus and insulted Him for His claim to be King of the Jews.
        
        Some examples of how Jesus was mocked was:
        
        Jesus was stripped off of his clothes by the soldiers and was given a purple cloak to wear. At that time, purple was a rare and difficult pigment to obtain, making it synonymous with royalty or even kingship.
        
        They also placed a crown made of thorns on Jesus' head to represent a crown.
        
        Lastly, they placed a reed between his hands to resemble a royal scepter, in which kings of that time would hold one to represent their power or authority over their dominions.
        
        The final sentence that Jesus had to suffer was crucifixion, the most agonizing and excruciating of all punishments which are usually placed on criminals who have committed the vilest of crimes in hopes to degrade or humiliate them.
        
        Approximately at April 7th, 30 A.D. at 9 in the morning, Jesus was crucified in the hills of Golgotha, in which he was accused of acting as a political criminal, which opposed the Roman Empire.
        
        It was written by Mark that Jesus was crucified in the third hour of his sentence, precisely at 9 A.M. The account of Mark was divided into sections; the third hour, the sixth hour, and the ninth hour.
        
        On the third hour, specifically Mark 15:25, brings emphasis to the event that God has foreseen what was to come and that everything was going according to His plan to save humanity.
        
        During the sixth to the ninth hour, Mark wrote that the sky was infused with darkness. Precisely at 3 in the afternoon, Jesus said the first few words of Psalm 22, in which he utters, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?".
        
        Martin Luther also popularized the concept of Anfechtung, which directly translates to all the temptations, despair, agony, hopelessness humans suffer. He mentions that nobody, especially one that is a true believer of Christ, has never been affected by Anfechtung. This could mean that the closer you are to Jesus, the harder the devil will tempt you to tip over. As a result, we must remain faithful and loyal to the LORD, while persevering and battling against sin. Only in that way, may we obtain eternal life and peace with the LORD.
