principles of design and visual elements
Principles of design
emphasis
it is when you focus at a specific area or pattern of an artwork
unity
Design theory describes unity as the way in which the different elements of a composition interact with one another. A unified layout is one that works as a whole rather than being identified as separate pieces
pattern
repetition of a specific element in a regular arrangement, like different shapes.
balance
With symmetrical balance, the visual weight is distributed evenly. You can draw a straight line through the middle of the design in any direction and the visual balance would be evenly distributed. This makes the composition appear stable and creates a more orderly look
ELEMENTS OF ART
line
a mark line made with a specific tool like a brush, pen, pencil etc There are many types of lines: thick, thin, horizontal, vertical, zigzag, diagonal, curly, curved, spiral, etc. and are often very expressive.
shape
Shape is a two dimensional area confined by a actual line or implied line (an edge for example). In drawing shapes are created when the ends of lines are joined to enclose area
value
value is the lightness of darkness of and object through shading
form
something that is 3d or 2d and have lines, width, volume, color and texture
texture
Texture refers to the surface quality in a work of art. We associate textures with the way that things look or feel. Everything has some type of texture. We describe things as being rough, smooth, silky, shiny, fuzzy and so on.
colour
The many colors created through the combination of the three principal color elements known as the three chromatic properties, hue, value, and chroma, express the various color tones. Tone is described in terms of attribute pairs such as light-deep, bright-dark or strong-weak.
space
The Element of Design Space refers to the area within, around, above or below an object or objects. It is important to creating and understanding both two dimensional or three dimensional works of art. With three dimensional art the space things occupy is real as is the space around object.
