Plastics - Coggle Diagram
Plastics
thermoplastics examples:
PVC
Polystyrene
Perspex
polythene
Teflon
Thermosetting plastics : advantages
they are hard and rigid
they have excellent aesthetic finishes
they are more resistant against high temperature
they have high mechanical properties
Thermosetting plastics : disadvantages
they are much more difficult to surface finish
they cannot be re moulded or reshaped
they cannot be recycled
they have poor thermal conductivity for housing replacements
thermosetting plastics examples:
Formica
Melamine
Bakelite
Thermoplastics advantages:
2) they are strong , light weight and have relatively low processing costs
3) thermoplastic components are relatively easy to manufacture with high volume and precision
1) they have wide range of applications
Thermoplastics disadvantages:
1) thermoplastics melt so some of them degrade in direct sunlight or under high U.V light levels.
2) many materials have poor resistace to hydro carbons, organic solvents and highly poler solvents but others have excellent resistance to these materials
