Enoxaprarin Sodium injection 40mg (once daily): Indications for administration: Anticoagulant. Prevention of venous thromboembolism [VTE] especially in surgical bedridden general medical patients. Also used as a treatment of VTE, unstable angina, non Q-wave MI and acute STEMI.
Normal dosage ranges: Medical prophylaxis: 40mg once daily for >6 days until further ambulation, max 14 days.
Route: Subcutaneous injection
Side effects: Thrombocytosis, haemorrhage, elevated LFTs, anaemia, GI upset, peripheral oedema, fever and site reaction including haematoma.
Interactions: Not for IM admin, increased bleeding risk including recent brain, spinal or ophthalmological surgery and may cause renal, haemostasis and hepatic impairment.
Contraindications: High risk of uncontrolled haemorrhage including major bleeding disorder, haemorrhagic stroke and active ulcerative condition with haemorrhagic tendency.

Action: Binds to and activates anti thrombin 3 which inactivates factor X’a only.
