- - - - On page 8, Ponyboy begins to cry and wipes away his tears. This shows us that Ponyboy can be soft at times, but just doesn't like to show it.
      - On page 2 and 3, Ponyboy complains about how the rich kids will jump greasers anyone any chance they get. He also goes on to describe all the bad things rich kids do. This implies that Ponyboy doesn't really like the rich kids.
      - On page 17, Sodapop calls himself dumb after Ponyboy asks why he dropped out of school. Ponyboy responds with "You're not dumb." This implies that Ponyboy cares about Sodapop.
    - - On page 12, Ponyboy describes himself as "quiet".
      - On page 2, Pony boy says "And nobody in our gang digs movies and books the way I do. For a while there, I thought I was the only person in the world that did, so I loned it. This is telling us that Ponyboy enjoys movies and books.
      - On page 4, Ponyboy says "'cause I'm supposed to be smart; I make good grades and have a high IQ and everything,". This is telling us that Ponyboy is pretty smart.

- - - - On page 17, Sodapop takes Ponyboy to bed and talks to him about things happening in his life. This implies that Sodapop cares a lot about Ponyboy.
      - On page 13, Sodapop tells Darry "leave my kid brother alone, you hear? It ain't his fault he likes to go to the movies, and it ain't his fault the socs like to jump us, and if he had been carrying a blade it would have been a good excuse to cut him to ribbons." This implies that Sodapop isn't scared to stand up against Darry, and obviously that he cares alot about Ponyboy.
    - - On page 2, Ponyboy says "Soda tries to understand, at least, which is more than Darry does." This is telling us that Sodapop cares about people he's close to.
      - On page 2, Ponyboy says "I love Soda more than I've loved anyone, even Mom and Dad. He's always happy-go-lucky and grinning,". This is telling us that Sodapop isn't very serious.
      - On page 7, Ponyboy describes Sodapop as "handsomer than anyone else I know." This lets us know that Sodapop is pretty attractive.
  - - - On page 33, Sodapop is the one to wake up Johnny and ask him questions after he gets beat up by socs.
      - On page 81, Sodapop writes Ponyboy a letter while him and Johnny are hiding away in the church.

      - On page 8, Ponyboy says "Darry looked at me as if he'd like to knock our heads together. 'You're both nuts.'" after Sodapop and Ponyboy are calling eachother crazy. This implies that Darry can get pretty annoyed by Sodapop and Ponyboy messing around.

      - On page 117, Randy says "And tonight... people get hurt in rumbles, maybe killed. I'm sick of it because it doesn't do any good." This states here that Randy doesn't like the soc. vs. greaser rumbles anymore.
      - On page 117, Randy states "So I'd fight if I thought it'd do any good. I think I'm gonna leave town." This is more information further solidifying the fact that Randy doesn't like the soc. vs. greaser rumbles.
    - - On page 116, Randy says "Bob was a good guy. He was the best buddy a guy ever had. I mean, he was a good fighter and tuff and everything, but he was a real person, too. You dig?" This lets us know that Randy is very sad that Bob was killed.
      - On page 115, Randy says "I wouldn't have. I would have let those kids burn to death." This implies that Randy isn't a really caring or selfless person unless something big happens in his life.
      - On page 116, Ponyboy says "-Randy tried to grin, but I could tell he was close to tears." This implies that Randy will still try to act cool and tough, even when he's spilling his heart out.

      - On page 29, Cherry and Marcia ask "You don't believe in playing rough, do you?" This can tell us that Cherry and Valance don't like it when people get rough and fight.
