Steps towards Authorization

Category 1 workshop: Making the PYP Happen: General framework for transdiciplinary learning for all the staff members is mandatory

PYP Coordinator should take the lead role to create job descriptions for the PYP Coordinator and PYP Principal

Organizational chart showing the hierarchy of the school comprising of school's leadership team, admin, coordinator and teaching staff with clear reporting lines

At least three unit planners with reflections must be presented as evidence at the time of the authorization showing collaboration amongst teachers and PLT

School website must be updated with the required text of candidate schools for the PYP at the time of authorization

PLT must ensure Language, inclusive education and assessment policies have been developed and being implemented by the school at the time of authorization

All teachers must be well aware of the PYP general regulations and must have access to MY IB on ibo.org for refrences and collaboration

All teacher must be a part of the weekly Collaborative Planning Meetings lead by the PYP Coordinator

The school philosophy and mission statement must align with that of the IB and updated on school's policy documents and website

School must own a Programme of Inquiry for all ages and transdisciplinary units as per the Standards & Practices Standard C.2.1a

Coordinator must ensure visible inquiry and visible thinking routine in all classes under each transdisciplinary unit of inquiry is in place at the time of authorization to show school has cultivated inquiry into their mission and philosophy.

School must show involvement and evidence of participation by all key stakeholders for programme implementation

School must have all facilities, equipment and resources in place for implementation of the programme

Prepare a five year budget chart to show funds allocation aligned with Standards and Practices Standard B: Resources & Support

School must have a budget in place to host the initial consultancy visit by the consultant appointed by the IB.

The leadership team must have their five year action place ready and kept as a living today to make any amendments that may occur during the process

on-going in-house workshops and collaboration must be evident during the verification visit. All meetings must be recorded and shared

The PYPC must ensure all members of the staff are well aware of any new publications, news and updates made by the IB

Ensure the attributes of the learner profile are embedded in the unit of inquiry or the learning process outside the programme of inquiry
