  - - - Event:Pony and Johnny get jumped by Randy, Bob, and three other Soc's while ate the park. David starts to drown Pony which worries Johnny and makes him use his switchblade on Bob killing him.
      - Event:Pony gets jumped walking home from the movies. The Socs pull a knife on him and ask if wants a haircut which causes Pony to scream for the gang. The gang arrives and chases the Socs away.
      - Event:Pony participates in the rumble between the Socs and the greasers in which the greasers end up winning when the Socs run.
      - Event:Pony and Johnny run into the burning church in order to save the school kids. They each save several kids before the structure begins to fail and they have to run out. Johnny is not fast enough and is caught by a piece of falling timber across the back.
- - - - Quote:“I reckon it never occurred to you that your brothers might be worrying their heads off and afraid to call the police because something like that could get you two thrown in a boy’s home so quick it’d make your head spin.”
      - Quote:“You don’t ever think,” Darry broke in, “not at home or anywhere when it counts.”

      - Quote:You’re living in a vacuum, Pony, and you’re going to have to cut it out. Johnny and Dallas were our buddies, too, but you don’t just stop living because you lose someone.”
  - - - Event:Darry participates in the rumble between the Socs and the greasers in which the greasers end up winning when the Socs run.
      - Event:Darry slaps Pony across the face so hard it knocks him to the door. Darry slaps Pony because Pony dozed off with Johnny in the lot and came home late. This happened because Darry was very mad and worried at the same time which led to Darry slapping him.
      - Event:Darry and Pony get into an argument which leads to Soda running off until Pony catches up to him.
      - Event:Darry runs to the lot with the gang and watches Dally pull an unloaded gun on the cops resulting in him getting shot.
- - - - Quote:"Where are Soda, and Super-dope, anyhow?"
      - Quote:"Hate to tell you this, buddy, but you have to wear clothes to work. There's a law or something."
      - Quote:Ain't nobody gonna call the fuzz in this neighborhood! Cause they know better!
  - - - Event:Steve participates in the rumble between the Socs and the greasers in which the greasers end up winning when the Socs run.
      - Event:Steve helps Pony after he gets jumped walking home alone from the movies.
- - - - Event:Johnny got jumped by the Socs along with Pony. Pony starts to get drowned and Johnny stabs Bob in defense which ended up killing Bob.
      - Event:Johnny is in the hospital and asks Pony to read him "Gone With The Wind".
      - Event:Johnny runs into the fire with Pony and saves the little kids.
      - Event:Johnny goes with Pony to the movies and stands up to Dally.
  - - - Quote:“I think I like it better when the old man’s hittin’ me.” Johnny sighed. “At least then I know he knows who I am.”
      - Quote:“Well I won’t. But I gotta do something. It seems like there’s gotta be someplace without greasers or Socs, with just people. Plain, ordinary people.”
      - Quote:"Would you rather have me living in hide-outs for the rest of my life, always on the run?” Johnny asked seriously.

  - - - Event:Soda participates in the rumble between the Socs and the greasers in which the greasers end up winning when the Socs run.
      - Event:Soda runs off after Darry and Pony have another argument which ends in Pony catching up to him.
      - Event:Soda helps Pony after he gets jumped walking home from the movies.

- - - - Event:Two-Bit and Pony are at the hospital visiting Johnny when they stop by Dally. When they stop by Dally he asks to see Two-Bit's prized switchblade and then asks to borrow it.
      - Event:Two-Bit is buying Cokes at the Tasty Freeze when Randy pulls Pony aside and talks about Bob's death. Two-Bit stayed close and made sure Randy didn't pull any stunts on Pony.
      - Event:Two-Bit participates in the rumble between the Socs and the greasers in which the greasers end up winning when the Socs run.
      - Event:Two-Bit goes to the movies and hits it off with Marcia.
  - - - Quote:"What I like is the 'turn' bit," Two-Bit said. ... "Y'all were heroes from the beginning. You just didn't 'turn' all of a sudden."
      - Quote:"Oh, lordy!" There was a catch in Two-Bit's voice and he was closer to tears than I'd ever seen him. "He has to live with that."
      - Quote:He looked at me as if I was off my nut. "Shoot, everybody fights."
      - Quote:"No jazz before the rumble; you know the rules, Ape Face."
- - - - Quote:"We won... We beat the Socs. We stomped them - chased them outa our territory."
      - Quote:"Johnny," Dally said in a pleading, high voice, using a tone I had never heard from him before, "Johnny, I ain't mad at you. I just don't want you to get hurt. You don't know what a few months in jail can do to you. Oh, blast it, Johnny...you get hardened in jail. I don't want that to happen to you. Like it happened to me..."
      - Quote:"You get tough like me and you don't get hurt, you watch out for yourself, and nothing can touch you."
      - Quote:"Johnny. Johnny, I ain't mad at you. I just don't want you to get hurt. You don't know what a few months in jail can do to you. Oh, blast it, Johnny, you get hardened in jail. I don't want that to happen to you. Like it happened to me…"
  - - - Event:Dally participates in the rumble between the Socs and the greasers in which the greasers end up winning when the Socs run.
      - Event:Dally pulls Johnny out of the burning church and also attempts to put the flame on Pony's back out. This makes him a hero in the newspapers eyes.
      - Event:Dally asks Two-Bit for his switchblade which he then uses to get out of the hospital to join the rumble by threatening a nurse.
      - Event:Dally robs a store and pulls an unloaded gun on the cops after Johnny dies. This results in his death.

      - Quote:“Ponyboy… I mean… if I see you in the hall at school or something and don’t say hi, well it’s not personal or anything, but…”
      - Quote:“I could fall in love with Dallas Winston,” she said. “I hope I never see him again or I will.”

  - - - Event:Marcia and Cherry get cussed at by Dally to try and embarrass them until Johnny tells him to stop.
      - Event:Cherry throws the soda Dally gave her in his face. This was after he started acting means and sat behind her at the drive in.
- - - - Quote:"Sure, if he gets killed or something, you just bury him. No sweat."
  - - - Event:Marcia and Cherry walk home with Johnny and Pony until they are found by Bob and Randy.
      - Event:Marcia and Cherry get cussed at by Dally to try and embarrass them until Johnny tells him to stop.
- - - - Quote:"Greasers will still be greasers and Socs will still be Socs. Sometimes I think it's the ones in the middle that are really the lucky stiffs."
      - Quote:"And even if you are mad at us, that's no reason to go walking around the street with these bums."

  - - - Event:Randy jumps Johnny and Pony and witnesses Bob's death.
      - Event:Randy testifies in court to make his dad happy.
      - Event:Randy stops by Pony's house to visit him and talk about the trial.
