Temporal Arteririts: inflammation
of branches of aortic arch,
inc the temporal arteries
Subjective: >50 YO, flu-like symptoms, headache in temporal region, ocular symptoms (loss of vision), tongue pain, jaw claudication
Objecive: area over temporal artery may be red, swollen; temporal pulse may be strong, weak, or absent

Children
Coarctation of the aorta:
stenosis in descending aoric arch d/t congenital defect, or acquired due to infammatory aortic dx
Subjective: mild-asymptomatic; severe- hypertension or vascular insufficiency, failure to thrive
Objective: differences in systolic bp between arms and legs, femoral pulses <radial pulses
Kawasaki Dx: small vessel acutevasculiic illness, may result in coronary artery aneurysm
Subjective: diffuse; fever >5 days, myalgias, weight loss
Objective: conjunctival infection, strawberry tongue, edema hands/feet, lymphadenopathy, rash

Infants
brachial, radial, femoral pulse easily palpable

HTN present in 1-3% of children (can signal kidney dx, coarctation, pheochromocytoma)
