Elements and Principles of Design :
Line
Line is a line traced on a single point
Also used to define shapes, colours and outines
Different types of lines are used such as curvy lines, perpendicular lines, etc.
Shape
Come in many types of shapes and sizes.
It is a two dimensional area confined by a line.
There are two types of shapes that are geometric and free - form.
Colour
Each colour has a different quality
There are bright colours and dark colours
The three primary colours are blue, red and yellow
Value
Is a comparison of dark and light on the surface of a painting
Each artwork has a different value
Has objects, shapes or lines that have value
Form
It is three dimensional and takes up adequate space
The three dimensions are length, width and shape
Media is used to make a three dimensional design
Texture
Texture is how a surface of shapes and designs on an artwork and how feels or looks.
If you are close to an object or artwork, there is texture.
Space
Illusions are used to make space.
Space exists in three dimensional or two dimensional objects in the artwork.
